Gathering?

Thinking of organizing a dinner or chillout session this coming weekend. Anyone who is keen let me know!

More places to go can be found on www.smartshanghai.com. Allow me to make a couple of reviews of the places that I went (Weizhe went with me too!)

====================

1. Windows Scoreboard:

Review:
Situated in the bar district, Windows Scoreboard is located on the 3rd floor, which takes some time to find. The place is the venue where I was watching the FA Cup final with Weizhe and my friend, but I must say that the atmosphere was kinda lacking. While there were many TV screens all over the pub and a big screen in the middle, the bar management did not put on the speakers, so imagine watching a FA cup final without any sound... just plain weird.

What is good about this place though is the cheap food and beer. Pub grub can cost as little as 10RMB. I recommend the fried chicken with sweet mustard sauce. The place also serves decent food, starting from 20 RMB to 30 RMB max. The reccomendation here would be their BLT sandwich (25 RMB). Drinks here are dirt cheap (for a pub), with beers starting from 10RMB (Tsingdao and Tiger) to 25 RMB max (Heineken, Carlsberg, etc). Shots and cocktails starts from 10 RMB as well...

Verdict: 3 out of 5 stars

2. Windows Too Club

Review:
Club plays pretty much RnB and Hip-Hop music, the kind that would be very much similar to Smoove (MOS) and Phuture. Drinks are slightly more ex than Windows Scoreboard, but still cheap as compared to some places. Atmosphere is pretty good, but unfortunately the club venue is small. They have a very small stage area, next to the DJ set-up. With metal chains and metal bar backdrop, one could just fantasize and imagine some kinky dance moves... provided you got the guts (or too high to care) to do it! Haha!

Not the best place to club, but still good for some decent (or indecent) fun.

Verdict: 3 out of 5 stars

Shanghai Ah Beng

Not sure how many of ya gotten your internet yet, but for me since I'm staying at a hostel with free wireless I'd might as well got the ball rolling...

Some of you might be wondering why I got this title for the blog post, I'll be explaining this to you very soon... in the meantime, I hope all of you who are here are doing fine and enjoying yourselves. Pity I couldn't make it in time for the gathering, since I only arrived on 5th May itself.

Anyway, about my 1st night here, I was walking along the busy streets when all of a sudden I felt something tugging at me...

Turned out it was some robber trying to grab my pouch!!!

Little did he knew, I'm the Chao Ah Beng from Singapore. And I was armed with my anti-theft pouch.

Yeap, you heard me. ANTI-THEFT POUCH.

I turned around and furiously kicked the bugger, in fact one kick actually hit his balls I think. I was basically screaming “你奶奶地” (Ni Nai Nai Di), talk about being adaptive to local culture eh?

One more thing: Is it just me, but why do all those sleazy men like to come up to me, walk 2 streets with me just to tell me to go for a "massage" and "have some fun"? I had to spit on the shoes on one guy just to make him get off my back!!! Boy this reminds me of my time backpacking Europe and when I was in Frankfurt...

Will be posting pictures soon.
